History of Pariso Logistics

Originally, Carmen & Angelo Pariso worked for their father and decided to go into business for themselves. This was the beginning of “Pariso Brother’s” Trucking Company, the year was 1936. Their father asked if they were ashamed of their name because it was not on their trucks. The Letter P was later put on the trucks to represent Pariso, which is still on the trucks today.

In 1942 both Carmen & Angelo, knowing that they had a duty to their country, joined the Armed Services during WW II ; Carmen to the 90th Infantry & Angelo was with the Railroad Battalion. When they returned from the war in 1945 starting over was hard. All of their customers were now with their competitors who hadn’t enlisted in the war. The property they owned had been rezoned, so they could not even get a building permit for a garage. They began with only one dump truck that they had kept before the war and had picked up various jobs throughout the area. In March 1954, the D. J. Mead Paper Warehouse, at Louisiana St. and Seneca St., in Buffalo, NY burned and had severe damage. Pariso Brothers were hired to clear the debris from the demolition job, which was quite extensive, and they had to work around the clock to finish the job. Pariso Brothers were also hired for the widening and resurfacing the 40 mile section of Route 5 from Silver Creek to the Pennsylvania border, the job was to scheduled to take 1 ½ years. They finished the resurfacing ahead of schedule in one year’s time.

After Angelo’s retirement in 1970 Carmen formed Carmen M. Pariso, Inc. with his wife Beverly. Their first major contract was with the Niagara Mohawk Power Plant on River Rd. in Tonawanda, NY. They started out with a small office trailer and scale on site. The job included dredging the ponds and hauling the coal ash that the plant produced, which they still do today. They purchased property adjacent to Niagara Mohawk, which was previously a junk yard, and built a two bay garage. Through the years they gradually added on. Today, Pariso Logistics Inc. is in the same location, only now the property is much larger and includes an office, an 8 bay garage, and operates with 25 Dump Trucks, 8 Tractors, 16 Trailers, 1 Slinger, 1 Single Axle, a Water truck and they are a New York State Certified Escort Service. Pariso Logistics Inc. currently employs over 55 people.

Carmen’s sons, Tony and John, worked with their father for many years to learn the different aspects of the business. Tony Pariso, who is now the President of the Company, has remained directly involved with managing the business to bring it to the top of the Western New York Aggregate and Heavy Equipment Transportation Market. Joseph “Hollywood” Zwolenkiewicz had his start as a driver and has moved through the ranks to become the company’s Vice President. Hollywood is the Vice President of Pariso Trucking and responsible for all marketing, customer relations and project management.
